At Her Journey to School (HJTS), we believe that when one girl is given the chance to rise, entire generations thrive. Founded with the vision of breaking barriers for girls in Tanzania, our work is dedicated to ensuring that every girl has access to education, safety, and opportunities that allow her to lead her own future with confidence.
Why We Exist
Across Tanzania, too many girls face challenges that stand in the way of completing their education — from lack of menstrual health support, to early pregnancies, to cultural barriers that limit their voices. We know that investing in girls’ education is one of the most powerful ways to transform families, communities, and societies.
Our Programs
HJTS drives change through programs that empower, educate, and inspire:
- Ndoto Ya Binti – A mentorship program equipping girls with knowledge on sexual and reproductive health, leadership, and storytelling to reclaim their narratives.
- Pad a Girl Campaign – Breaking the silence around menstruation by providing pads and school essentials, while reshaping mindsets to normalize girls’ education.
- Community Awareness Program – Engaging fathers, families, and communities to stand alongside girls and adolescent mothers in their journeys.
- Her Future We Build – Supporting adolescent mothers to continue their education and make their own life choices with dignity.
