Ndoto ya Binti is a Swahili phrase meaning “A Dream of a Daughter” is one of the core programs of Her Journey to School, dedicated to mentoring girls on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

In many Tanzanian communities, conversations about reproductive health, menstruation, consent, and relationships are considered taboo. As a result, girls grow up without reliable information or trusted guidance on how to care for their bodies, protect their health, or make informed choices.

The Ndoto ya Binti Program provides a safe, supportive, and empowering mentorship space for girls to learn about their health, well-being, and rights from credible sources. Mentors guide discussions that help girls understand themselves, build self-esteem, and gain the confidence to speak up about issues that matter most in their lives.

“Empowering girls in Tanzania with the knowledge, confidence, and voice to protect their health and shape their future”

Within Ndoto ya Binti, we host a special event called Truth Talk Day,  a day dedicated to open, honest conversations about topics chosen by the girls themselves.

On these days, we invite medical professionals, counselors, fellow male students and health educators to engage directly with the girls, sharing factual, age-appropriate information and answering questions in a safe, judgment-free environment.
